JALALPUR BHATTIAN: Farmers took out a rally against the defective agriculture policy and increasing prices of petroleum products, electricity and fertilizer here on Thursday.
The rally was taken out from Alipur Road and culminated at Fowara Chowk after marching through different roads. The protesters led by Pakistan Kissan Board central president Sardar Zafar Hussain, district president Chaudhry Amanullah Chattha and Malik Shaukat were chanting slogans against the government. Addressing the protesters, Pakistan Kissan Board central president Zafar Hussain said that the increasing prices of fertilizer and electricity were forcing the farmers to give up the profession. He demanded the government take steps to end black marketing of fertilizer and launch a crackdown against cattle lifters. He warned the government of staging demonstrations in front of the national and provincial assemblies if their demands were not met.
